On 4-6 December 2023, Mrs. Salinee Phonprapai, Deputy Director-General of the Department of International Economic Affairs and the Royal Thai Embassy in Lima attended the Informal APEC Senior Officials Meeting (ISOM) at the Swissotel Hotel, Lima, the first meeting hosted by Peru as host of APEC 2024. Senior officials or representatives from every APEC member economy participated in the meeting.

During the meeting, the Peruvian Government presented the theme and topics that Peru would promote during its APEC Chairmanship, with a focus on trade and investment for inclusive growth, under the theme “Empower, Include, Grow”. The Thai delegation participated in various activities of the meeting, including (1) ISOM plenary meeting (2) SOM-only Retreat (3) ISOM Symposium (4) Informal Committee on Trade and Investment meeting (CTI1) (5) Reception for APEC SOMs and representatives hosted by President Dina Boluarte at the Government Palace and (6) SOM-only site visit to Larco Museum in Lima.

The meeting was a good opportunity for Thailand to showcase its leading role and to build on the success of Thailand's APEC 2022 host year, especially promoting the implementation of the Bangkok Goals on Bio-Circular-Green Economy through APEC’s various mechanisms.
