“Timeless Thai”: A Cultural Performance to Commemorate 60 Years of Diplomatic Relations between Thailand and Peru

Lima, September 8, 2025 — The Royal Thai Embassy in Peru is pleased to announce the extraordinary cultural performance entitled “Timeless Thai: Khon and Traditional Thai Dance,” which will take place on Tuesday, 16 September 2025, at 19:00 hrs. at the Municipal Theater of Lima, as part of the celebration of the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Thailand and Peru.

The event will offer Peruvian audiences a unique artistic experience by bringing together cultural expressions from both nations in a single evening. The main event will feature Khon, the classical Thai masked dance, declared an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO, accompanied by other traditional Thai dances that reflect the richness and diversity of the culture of the Kingdom of Thailand.

This evening will feature the participation of the Chulalongkorn University Thai Youth Orchestra (ChulaThaiYO), made up of 30 talented musicians and dancers visiting Peru for the first time on this significant occasion. Their performance in Lima is a symbol of friendship and cultural rapprochement between the two countries.

The program will also include a performance by the Peruvian National Dance Cast, thanks to the valuable support of the Ministry of Culture. This will allow for an artistic dialogue between the traditions of Peru and Thailand, highlighting the ties of cultural cooperation that have been strengthened over six decades.

The Municipality of Lima has also provided its support for this event, which will take place in one of the most emblematic venues in the Peruvian capital.

This cultural performance represents not only an opportunity to appreciate the beauty of traditional Thai art and music, but also an occasion to celebrate the strong bonds of friendship, understanding, and collaboration that unite Thailand and Peru.

Admission is free and open to the public, subject to venue capacity.
