On 19-21 April 2022, the Royal Thai Embassy in Lima, together with the University of Santo Tomas, Colombia, co-organized the “Week of Friendly Countries – The Kingdom of Thailand” event to disseminate information about Thailand and to exchange knowledge and best practices between Thailand and Colombia in various dimensions such as economy, trade and investment opportunities, education, sustainable tourism and culture.

The event was well-received by students and faculty of the University, as well as the Colombian public. Approximately 1,200 people attended the event, with an additional 1,000 people attending through Facebook Live. Various government and private agencies from Thailand and Colombia gave talks to promote cooperation between Thailand and Colombia. In addition, various Thai groups participated in the event via physical and online activities to disseminate Thai culture, including a group of Buddhist monks including the Venerable Chaokhun Phra Vijitrdhammapani, Abbot of Florida Dhammaram Temple, the Venerable Phra Ajarn Sutham Nateetong and delegates from the Walk for World Peace group, Mr. Todd Thongdee, American singer and international producer based in Thailand, Thai chefs from a Thai restaurant in Mexico, Mr. Joseph Zamudio, music therapist and former singing contestant on  The Voice Thailand, T-Pop band 4MIX and Yean Papichaya from Khaosan Entertainment Co., Ltd. who are gaining popularity in Latin America, and Thai traditional dance group from New York. The event’s promotion of Thailand’s unique cultural identity in Colombia raised public awareness of the cordial relations between Thailand and Colombia.
