Introduction to Thai Language and Culture (Class of 2023)

            Thai, the official language of Thailand, is spoken by over 60 million people worldwide. Known for its melodious tones and unique script, Thai offers a fascinating linguistic experience. Throughout this course, co-organized by the Royal Thai Embassy in Lima and the Center for Thai as a Foreign Language, Faculty of Arts, Chulalongkorn University; you will learn the fundamentals of Thai pronunciation, vocabulary, grammar, and sentence structure. By the end, you will be equipped with the necessary skills to engage in basic conversations, introduce yourself, and navigate everyday situations with confidence.

          In addition to language learning, this course also delves into the vibrant culture of Thailand. Thailand's cultural heritage is a tapestry of traditions, customs, and beliefs that have evolved over centuries. We will explore topics such as Thai etiquette, festivals, cuisine, arts, and spirituality, providing you with a deeper understanding of Thai society and enhancing your cultural awareness.

Program Duration

This program will be conducted through online platform during 17 August – 11 September 2023, on Monday to Friday at 07:00 – 09:00 pm. (Lima Time – GMT-5)

Qualifications

Applicants interested in participating in the program must:

• Be a national of Peru, Colombia, Ecuador, Bolivia or Venezuela
• Currently reside in Peru, Colombia, Ecuador, Bolivia or Venezuela
• Be at least 18 years of age
• Have a good command of English
