Thailand Assumes Chairmanship of the ASEAN Committee in Lima (ACL) for the 2026 Term

On 16 February 2026, Mr. Kasem Sailueanam, Chargé d’Affaires a.i., represented the Royal Thai Embassy in Lima in assuming the Chairmanship of the ASEAN Committee in Lima (ACL) for the 2026 term, succeeding H.E. Mr. Ahmad Irham Ikmal Hisham, Ambassador of Malaysia to Peru.
 
The handover took place at Nhow Hotel in Lima and was witnessed by H.E. Mr. Ricky Suhendar, Ambassador of Indonesia to Peru, together with ACL working group officials. On this occasion, the Malaysian side reported on the activities carried out during its chairmanship, while the Chargé d’Affaires a.i. expressed commitment to working closely with the ACL to strengthen ASEAN-Peru relations and cooperation. The meeting also discussed the directions and activities to be undertaken by the ACL during Thailand’s tenure as Chair. Following the meeting, the Ambassador of Malaysia hosted a luncheon for the participants.
 
The Chairmanship of the ASEAN Committee in Lima (ACL) rotates among the Ambassadors /Heads of Mission of ASEAN Member States accredited to Lima, namely Indonesia, Malaysia, and Thailand.
